Talking
I have always wondered whether it would be possible to make the sound from mics only audible if you are nearby, and if there is no wall in your way.

You could also craft an (expensive) device that let you hear all of the other people with that device on the right frequency (sort of like a walkie-talkie).

yeah

RE: Talking
Yes, that is possible, though I've never seen it used very well with microphone audio... most sound engines support this kind of thing, though.

RE: Talking
Isn't it like that in most FPS games? (Well the wall thing isn't always the case)

RE: Talking
That's the thing I was talking about that no games do well. Most games also ignore acoustics in rooms, but that's understandable... FPS games do do this to a certain degree.

RE: Talking
Well it would be cool to implement voice chat for people who are close by.

RE: Talking
Skype isn't laggy if you have a good connection. The sound quality is great. However, having a derpy connection myself, I know whacha mean. Usually Skype works great for me, but my connection likes to drop...
