RE: Progress-O-Meter Alpha 0.53
So, what's the short version of what needs to be done with the packing?
The wikipedia article just was way too much for my brain.

Yet another suggestion: FOV slider.

I play too many games at once.

Werido, while I agree that FOV is a nice feature moving forward, I feel we're still missing some basic features and should worry about those before we worry too much about stuff like FOV sliders... Tongue LIke, ya know, an options menu. xD

Up and working at 4 -- the field-of-view is currently determined based on window size, so maybe it just needs a multiplier value. And an options menu...

As for the packing, the basics are done for calculating the correct location of each block -- now it's a matter of going through all of the functions to make sure they work correctly with the new packing system. For example, the function that determines if a block is visible looks at all of its neighbors -- if it's completely buried, it isn't drawn. The old system only had to check 6 neighbors, while this new one has to check 12. They should (hopefully) all be simple changes, there's just a lot of 'em.

Sounds like a typical programming sort of thing to me. Change terrain packing, breaks the crafting of stone axes. Sometimes bugs and such don't seem related in any way xD

I swear though, sometimes this stuff is ridiculous. <_>

...and this is why I'm going to stick to using premade engines.

Wow, no one even said anything. So rood.

So how goes the development? Any interesting bugs encountered in the past couple of days?
